Back in the 1990s many of our customers kept telling us about their need for custom control panels. We listened carefully and felt compelled to meet their needs. In response, in 1996 we opened the Toshont Panel Shop in Burlington, Ontario. What a fine decision that turned out to be!
What exactly is a custom control panel?
Before going too far down the road in our discussion of the Toshont Panel Shop, it is essential that we answer the question, what exactly is a custom control panel?
The word panel refers to an electrical control panel, which is essentially a metal box that contains electrical devices that control and monitor a mechanical process electrically. The boxes are typically made of mild steel or stainless steel and their sizes vary depending upon the requirements of the process. Some panels are quite simple while others are very complex. A control panel enclosure can have multiple sections, each of which has an access door. Each enclosure will have an environmental rating and built to UL and CSA standards.

Today, the Toshont Panel Shop is a happening place where our experienced engineering and technical staff design and build an impressive array of panels— from simple forward/reversing panels to the most complex variable-frequency drive (VFD) and programmable logic controller (PLC) panels. If you can imagine it—and bring us your specs—we can design it and build it. Concept engineering at its best! On top of that we will fully test your panel before it leaves our shop—and we can commission it as well. Our factory train service technicians can perform field service and VFD repairs in house and on-site. The Toshont Panel Shop does it all and backs it up with a 100% guarantee.
The Toshont Panel shop is fully certified by Canadian Standards Association (CSA), which tests and certifies companies with various North American standards such as C22.2#14-10. We are also fully certified with Underwriters Laboratories (UL), which certifies companies to their North American standards, such as UL 508A. Our Quality Management System (QMS) is ISO 9001:2015-certified.
Toshont is proud to maintain our CSA/UL, ETL, and ISO standards through quarterly and yearly audits per certification body to prove our ability as a top-tier products and services provider. Our commitment to quality is second to none!
